Buyer Moving Checklist

Realizing that your upcoming move can bring a lot of stress & anxiety, below is a checklist of things you want to make sure you prepare for prior to your move.

Connect, Disconnect, or Transfer all utilities:

  • Electric/Gas
  • Water/Sewer
  • Cable
  • Trash/Recycle
  • Telephone

Update your new address with the postal service to delay mail being sent to your new home.

If you are moving into a community that has a country club, fitness center, pool, etc. you will want to arrange to obtain keys for access to these amenities. This is typically done through the community management company or the homeowner's association.

If your mailbox is one contained within a group of mailboxes, you will need to make sure you have the key to access your individual box.

Plan to update the address on your driver's license within 10 days of your move.

Contact your banks, financial institutions, credit card companies, insurance companies, etc. to provide them with your new address and phone number (if applicable).

It's always a good idea to plan on having the locks to your home re-keyed. It is not something that would be required, but it is recommended.

  • Shower curtain rods
  • Lightbulbs/flashlights
  • Tools/scissors/box cutters
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Paper products
  • Trash/plastic bags
  • Water/soda/snacks
  • Tape measure
  • First aid kit
  • Extension cord and batteries
